I just noticed a trend in a lot (though not all) of the books I've been bouncing off of in just a few pages lately:  each one starts off with a guy angsting.

In complete honesty, this isn't really something I'm comfortable with.  I like guys.  Both in fiction and in real life.  I'm just as likely to like male characters as female characters.   ( Read more... )

Earlier today, someone(I forget who...if it was you, tell me!) linked to an article about long-suffering women of prime time TV.   One thing it briefly touches on is that some women are victims and some aren't, despite suffering the same-or worse-hardships as the "victims."  On the one hand, with the characters I recognize, I wholeheartedly agree ( Read more... )

Soooo...the latest LJ kerfluffle, removing basic accounts for new users is apparently resulting in a 1 day strike.  For those not familiar with this:  LJ no longer gives the option of basic accounts to new users, only plus, paid, and permanent accounts.  Existing users who have basic accounts aren't affected.
